Sounds like a coil to me.  I've fried a few of them,
each one goes in a different way.  You might also look
at your starter.  Mine's starting to go bad and
actually pulls my voltage down low enough in the cold
to reset the stations on my radio if my battery is a
little weak.  You might try a different starter to.
