Hey all,
About a week ago, my wife called me to jump-start her
100CSQ -- nothing was happening when she turned the
key. We'd just had a cold snap that day and we went
through some battery trouble last winter, so we
assumed that was it. I hooked her up to my car and
the V6 roared into life, I followed her home in case
she had any further problems, but she didn't. We left
her car here while driving "over the river and through
the woods" to my mom's place for Thanksgiving, so
didn't have a chance to test it.
On our return, the Q started fine several times. Then
yesterday it refused to start the SECOND time she
tried it. She just took one of the other cars, and we
were planning to replace the battery today.
Then she went out to start the car this morning and it
worked fine. So I'm now convinced it's not a battery
problem, nor a charging problem, but a wiring problem.
The car's got close to 180k and 11 years on it, and
it's in a damp climate (Portland, Oregon), so I
suspect corrosion in the keyswitch. But I'm not sure
this car doesn't have a relayed starter, and it could
be that the relay is going out.
I haven't got a Bentley (heck, I haven't even got a
Haynes :-) for this car, so does anyone have a
suggestion of where to start looking, either
physically for a relay or on the Web for a wiring
diagram? (And I can't find the 12V Web page -- used
to be bookmarked and that went away with the hard
drive that failed...)
Thanks,
