quattro Digest, Vol 2, Issue 41 - removing lense reflector coatings

FYI, neither paint thinner nor acetone removed the silver from a T44
turbo Euro front
reflector. On that piece, it's actually a thin film of aluminum vacuum
applied to the
back of the reflector, then silver painted on the back like a regular
home type mirror
(except silver, rather than black paint). Ended up (to add side marking
to a set of
Euros, write up yesterday) drilling through the backing to allow the
LED's to poke
through the backing. Didn't drill through the lense though.

I was told by a reliable source that after you drill the hold, a little
acetone or paint thinner wil,l take the silver paint right off the inside
of the red reflector. But I am not sure how to make a silver reflector
for the back side. I have a second center peice to play with. Maybe cut
the whole section oout what woudl end up being the housing for the fog,
then pint it with that chrome/silver paint then glue it back together?
or would I just be better off begging one of my fellow q-listers in
Europe to send me a used center section (in return for an appropriate
amount of $$, of course)?
