Cold start valve

Hi all,

I know that the cold start valve (as it is known) is pulsed while the
engine is starting and for a brief period afterwards, depending on how cold
the engine is, but is it also pulsed when the ECU detects sudden
acceleration due to a large change in the MAP sensor input? I was thinking
that it might answer my engine problem if it is supposed to provide extra
enrichment during hard acceralation. The car also cranks for a while before
it catches when it's cold and warm, but not hot. My car is a UK '89 200qta
with a MAC 12D Hitachi ECU.

Cheers, Mike.
