The people with the law degrees that are suit happy are saying that the
newer tires must be placed on the rear; regardless if it is AWD, front
or rear drive. The logic they have is that understeer must be a safer
condition. I personally put the better tires up front on my 80Q and on
the rear in my Miata that needs all the help it can get. When I
install tires for customers; I put the newer tires in the rear.
