They do stiffen up if you don't use them; after having that happen I'll 
routinely cycle mine on and off several times a week.  Rain is best, but 
straight line driving is fine too.

Good point about the check valve though!  Since mine are slackers when it 
comes time to unlock, mebbe a little boost on that line is _exactly_ what I 
need ;)
