A6 timing belt service?

I did my 97 A6 at 80k, the belt seemed fine and it looked fine. The bk said
ask your audi dealer. I was under the impression that the interval was every
90k. I ended up replacing the bearing, waterpump, thermo, and serp belt. I
replaced the working waterpump with an APEX aftermarket and the thing crapped
out in less than a year ~10k miles. I had a local audi shop do the adjustment
on the belt so I know it wasn't to tight or loose. I would recommend saying
away from the APEX brand. It cost me $450 and a day without the car, for
preventive maintence.
