hi gang! things are pretty much the same for me: still driving
my A4, license plate QUAATRO. it's had it's share of city-car incidents,
mainly my girlfriend who learned to drive in the poor thing. she also
backed a u-haul into it. i am good about getting the claims and getting
things fixed, though. my service warranty is out now, and i have been
taking the car to new dimensions for basic service. had redline put into
it last time, in order to save the hassle and environmental waste of too
frequent oil changes.
i still have the APR chip, and am going to get the software update
(four driving modes). i also had new dimensions install one of those FX
bypass valves. nice WOOSH sound that i can turn off completely when i get
tired of it. it really turns heads, especially heads of people who are
waiting for the bus!
i'm about to put the snows back on, for tahoe runs, i'll be spending
most of my time on the north shore, with a house on donner. original urq
wheels with hakka qs on them. i have some studded hakka 1s on skinny steel
rims, but no real practical way to use 'em. a pal sold me some stock S4
wheels with decent rubber on them as well. my stockers (16" sport package
wheels) are still on the original rubber with 45k on the clock, thanks to
many of those miles being on the hakkas.
the warranty! those bastards. i bought the VERY expensive
extended warranty. that company has gone out of business, and sold off
the warranties to other companies. mine will now require that i pay for
EVERYTHING and then file a claim. insurance companies are wicked,
worthless scam organizations. not to mention my $2k premiums - clean
record, no claims. they want us to be glad to help the execs pay for
their homes in rancho santa fe and the hamptons and the boat for going
to catalina on the weekend and... grrr.
i'll need a clutch probably within 15k. SF and a new driver are
sure hard on them. not sure how long for real, though. the AM radio is
still screwy and will always be so, audi be damned for not figuring that
one out.
i've noticed that my old MC concerted ur-quattro is still for sale
at 2bennett. not surprising. they ought to send it to a shop that can
actually get 14 PS of boost out of it, then someone'll buy it. i *will*
buy another urq someday, hopefully in green.
bummer to miss the thanksgiving run in santa cruz/soquel. we were
in maui for thanksgiving, bummer, huh? i saw all of four audi cars on that
island, besides at the dealer's lot. we had a rented jeep, drove the living
hell out of it on crazy dirt and "paved" roads. i could live there, in
pa'ia anyway...
that's my re-intro! i'll be posting a couple of more specific things
right away.
be well!
