Maybe, bu tmy old quattro wasnt a "higher trim level" model. It was a
quattro C.
Now, I guess most of you dont know about the 80 quattro C. I didnt
either, until a few months ago, when I bought a book called "Audi
Typenatlas". This book is simply a model guide on all models from 1965
to 2000.
The 1984 80 quattro C was a model introduced to make a somewhat more
affordable version available. It had a smaller engine (2.0 vs 2.2), diff
locks, sport seats, body plastics and manually operated sunroof. It
didnt even have power steering, nor trunk light or rear headrests, and
definitely no power locks or windows. Basically a cheaper model.
Price in Germany, 1984 was 27.890 DM for a 2-door 80 quattro C vs 33.785
DM for a 4-door 80 quattro 2.2.
And finally, I'll admit that it is totally possible that my car ahd the
rocker skirts retro-fitted. After all, the car was 13 years old and had
2 PO before I bought it.
