Hi All,

Many thanks for all youre input on my questions last week on building a 3"
exhaust.

I spent a very cold (it was blizarding) weekend fabricating it, you can
see the results here;

It all went very smoothly. The front section to the back of the flex is
all 304 stainless. I started by chopping the bottom of the downpipe off,
and welding on a 2.5" to 3" stainless reducer and 3" flange. Then the new
3"" flowaster hiflow stainless CAT, then the 3" stainless flex with
another flange on the back. I would have preferred to get the flex at the
bottom of the downpipe but things dont fit like that.

Everything from here back is mild steel - Aluminized. I have enough
flanges etc to cut into the rear to add a silencer if needs be, waiting to
fire it up to see if its too loud first.

Costs - Stainless

CAT - $90.00
FLEX - $30.00
Reducer - $20
Stainless Flanges (x3) $17 each
Seamless tube - 2 feet (used 6") $12 a foot

Costs - Mild Steel

Aluminized flowmaster universal tailpipe kit $60 (4 sections with bends in)
Aluminized 3" pipe - 2 lengths at 4' $14 each
Mild steel 3 bolt 3" flanges and gaskets - $17 per pair (only used one)

Everything was MIG welded, Stainless with 308L wire, Mild with regular wire.

Next weekend I just have to add the hangers and wrap the downpipe (and
paint the rest of the pipe, and probably cut a bit off the tailpipe as its
too long right now. In total it took me about 12 hours.

Cheers

Timmy
