Computer codes? 1111--Ned's comments

Stephen,

This reminded me of something.

Once while trying to check out a heat related issue I sprayed a cooling
substance "FreezeIt" onto various components in the computer while the
car was running. When I sprayed the chip to cool it the engine quit and
would not restart.

The data stored in the chip was all messed up. I reprogrammed the chip
and it has worked well ever since and I've not been able to duplicate
the incident!

You may just need to have the chip checked to see if they are still
viable and with the correct data.

Ned Ritchie

Once working, these should stay working unless affected by some outside
influence - water due to negligence (as you have found) or a voltage
spike
through faulty component(unusual). Kind of like Newton's law for
automotive electronics.

Helga's shower cap was the standard protection device used for these
AFAIK.
When properly installed it assured unlimited protection. When
improperly
re-installed, can cause more harm than good.

If the one you get used is working, then likely will stay that way. I
have
no qualms about using used ECU's.

Ben
