Boy did I start a thread! Yes I know of and have ridden in big horsepower 914s. I have also seen them twist and crack the unibody in very scary ways. I learned the hard way years ago that there is no such thing as too much power but there is such a thing as no more money.

I am not a high HP guy anymore. My last track car was a 79 924 with maybe 130 HP. I am a throttle on the floor, hang on and steer guy. I watched many faster, poorly driven cars go off track or give me the pass signal on the straight. The best was a new twin turbo, after dogging him for two laps and getting passing flags everywhere, he gave me the pass with his middle finger.

But I digress, the 914 is a blank canvas for most of us. We can make it what we want. I prefer the fun of driving it flat out as much as possible. That means it doesn't need to have a zillion HP, it needs to be reliable and fun to drive. The current one is my 7th, and set up for fun on the street and the rare AX. My next track car will be faster and handle better than the 914, but the teener will still be the favorite.
