No heat

So have you disconneected the black heater cable that attaches to the servo motor in the A/C programmer? If so this is the one that controls if air goes through the heater core. You need to pull the inner wire of the cable to get the heat, and then hold it down from returning, maybe w/ a nut and bolt or something. You shouldn't have to keep it at defrost only cuz heat will flow to the floor or other vents, you just need to make sure the flap that allows air to the heater is open.
Did you use air to blow out the heater core? I know it's probly too cold to have the water hose outside now, but you shouldn't use air to blow out the core. The pressure can cause damage and it doesn't really get as much stuff out as water. I'm sure any place does that does radiator flushing could do this for you for a small fee or even free.
If the water is backed up in the main cooling system cuz of a water pump or whatever, you'll notice problems w/ the engine cooling, even in cold weather. The engine will overheat and may even be damaged if run for a long time w/ a dead water pump. The water needs to get to the radiator, and if it can get there, then it probly has enough flow to get through a clear heater core. You also may want to have the cooling system water pressure tested just in case. A stuck thermostat may also be affecting this. If it's stuck open, the water will stay too cold b/c it's cooled by the radiator all the time. You'll notice the engine temp is much lower than normal operating temp. If it's stuck closed, the engine may overheat, but you should be able to get heat if that was the only problem. Once you narrow a few possibilites down, it should be a simple problem to solve. good luck.

My 5000 TQ has very little warm air. I disconnected the temp system and have
the flaps set to defrost only, coolant valve fully open. The A/C is unhooked
also. I blew the heater core out today, thought it might be clogged but not
so. The hoses to and from the heater core are warm. If the fan is off, once
turned on it puts out warm air for about 30 seconds, then the air is barely
warm.
Could a bad water pump cause this? I was wondering if the impellers are
really worn maybe they don't move much water. Also thinking about hot wiring the
turbo water pump, which terminal would be hot to make the pump work in the
correct direction. Any ideas appreciated.
