5ktq sunroof issues

Having some trouble with my sunroof (yes it's still hot in Florida) on the '87 5ktq. It opens to vent (and closes from vent) just fine, but when trying to retract it it doesn't cooperate. If I help it opens ok, and requires help to close. I thought it was the cables, so I started by covering them in white lithium grease, which didn't help so then I took it apart. I replaced the tracks, cables, and the part that the cables attach to (including the whole crossmember). With the assembly not in the roof every moved fairly easily. Once back in the car though it acted exactly the same, so I replced the motor, which didn't help either. Is it possible that somehow the cieling directly under the rear section of the sunroof is like tweaked or something like that?
