Oil...

Hi, as I am coming up on my first oil change (I am strictly following
Audi's guidelines here), I'm interested in thoughts on synthetic oil. I
have never used it and never had any problems with previous cars using
dino oil. My question is, with Audi recommending 10k between changes
(based on the free scheduled maintenance at 5k, 15k, etc.) I am a little
concerned about using the dino oil if I am not going to do interim changes
(in the past I have strictly adhered to 3k - 5k oil and filter changes
using regular oil). So, I guess my choices are -

1 - Stay with Audi's recommendations on change interval and oil (since the
     car came with dino oil, I assume that is their recommendation...)

2 - The above but use synthetic oil.

3 - Perform interim changes every 3k - 5k using dino oil.

4 - The above using synthetic.

I plan to keep the car indefinitely - next car is my wife's, and then the
college years will be starting............
