If it gets that far, maybe a desk calendar (4"x6"ish pics) would be a good
idea. It would certainly increase the number of pics to choose from.

Yes there is. If the calendar were to be printed the images should be a
very minimum 200 DPI (dots/inch) relative to the picture size (e.g.
10"x8"=2000x1600 pixels) to make it look descent, but higher resolution
is better.
