I swear by my air chisel for separating anything ($30 for a cheap one).
Just hold torque while hitting it with the air chisel. I use a sheet metal
cutting tip that is hopelessly dull since it has a nice concave angle that
won't slip off or pit surfaces. If you want to avoid damaging the surface
you are working on, hit the wrench/socket with the air chisel instead. A
brass tip would be better if you could find one. Also, kee it away from
direct contact with cast aluminum. I have yet to be beaten or break a bolt
using this method. HTH.
