Based on my very limited experience using a pressure washer the chief
drawback I see for using a pressure washer on wheels is a possible tendency
for removing any finish coating on the wheels. If such a coating has any
crazing or micro-cracks in the surface then that high pressure jet of water
just might "push" through the crack and lift the finish material right off
the surface of the metal. It surely does this on painted wooden surfaces
where the painted surface is not perfect. I suspect that a washer which is
capable of producing higher pressures would be more aggressive in this respect.

If your wheels are not coated then it's likely that a pressure washer will
do a pretty good job of cleaning wheels. If your wheels are coated then
I'd suggest either 1. that you do some hand scrubbing or 2. keep the
washer nozzle at a considerable distance from the wheels while cleaning them.
