Condoms. :-)

Seriously, unless you know they are geeky kids, a chess
set probably won't excite them. When my youngest was
in third grade, one of his classmates was a nationally ranked
chess player. He got some kids interested, including my son,
they started playing and practicing, and that season they took
third place at a tournament. But, a year later the group lost
interest and that was the end of that.

The easy way out and can't go wrong: * movie passes *
$20 gets them into the movie and enough popcorn, soda,
and candy to keep them going 'til 3AM. Heck, $20 each
and they can bring a umFriend.

Or maybe gift certificate to Strawberry Records.
Or a DVD or video game rentals at the local Blockbuster.

HTH,
Kent
