Well, yes.  A good whack can move some of the parts around and totally 
screw up your alignment.  You say the control arm bushings are still 
good, but the ball joint could have been pushed or pulled out of place 
int eh control arm and still seem tight.  Or, less likely, a tie rod 
could have been bent.

Other unlikely scenarios I imagined up besides your alignment being way 
off - possibly the tire was "junk" from the factory and simply 
disintegrated.  Also, what if that brake was dragging or something?  Not 
sure it could do what we're looking at here or not, though.
