Sure sounds like it. A boat is a hole in the water into which one dumps money. If you buy a nut at a marine store it costs $1, if you buy the EXACT same nut at Home Depo, it costs $0.10. Need a starter for your marine Chevy 350? $125 for a rebuilt, need one for your car 350? $30 rebuilt. Need one for your little 11 HP diesel (what's in my sailboat)? Try $300 for a rebuilt! New set of sails? $5,000 for medium grade. Slip rental for a 30'er? $200 per month at a cheap marina. Annual haul-out and bottom painting? $500-700. But, you forget all about that when you're our there ghosting along at sunset sipping a cocktail... :)

I pump a ton of money into my Audi. Isn't that like boating?
