Euro tail parts on a US CGT?

I don't think the US plate surround mates up to the Euro reflector bar... 
the US reflector bar is higher than the European example. Look at pictures 
of several cars to compare, but from my experience they won't fit.
I have the Euro plate surrounds lying around somewhere... they're only two 
small ribbed plastic things.
