The detergent level in Rotella is higher than convetional oils.  All 
oils formulated for heavy diesel usage have high detergents.  It's just 
doing it's job in getting the crap out of the  motor and keeping in in 
suspension long enough to get it to the filter.

Your wifes A6 may have been sludged up and the Rotella is cleaning 
things out
