well, first here are my pretty pictures:

the small cars have a metal "fuel tray" thing (my name for it) that
holds the fuel filter, pump, and pressure accumulator. These are
interconnected by a couple of plastic lines that are tough to work with
when they are old. Working space on all these things is difficult.
I went nuts and replaced them all on my 90Q; which gets a bit pricey
(although you should install a new fuel filter while you are down there).
I'd still recommend simply undoing the main fuel line in and line out
and bringing the tray to a bench to play. If you can undo the nuts on
the three rubber mounts, that is...
The main fuel line is a rubber one. To seal it, compress it with a
C-clamp or a vice grips. Or plan on doing this with an almost empty
tank and draining it while under there.
The "out" line should do no more thna drip a bit.
! DO THIS OUTSIDE !
Gasoline fumes are explosive and toxic in confined spaces, don't take
any chances.
Cigarette breaks are right out the window on this job, so work fast.
