3B Distributor crossfiring, documentation?

Since you mention it Ken, only time I've ever heard this allegedly being a problem was on Dean Treadway's White Urq, does anyone know if in fact this is a problem or how it occurs.  This has kinda been in the back of my mind but I've been discoutning it.  MSD says this can be prevented by drilling holes in the cap between the strike points, I was considering trying this just for the heck of it.

What do you guys think, anything to it?  Heck, the TransAm cars were making 600hp with a distrubutor, can a measly 350-400hp cause this at relatively low 5k rpm?
