Winter driving school

Woohoo!

Hi All,

Just got back from my first winter driving school at Mecaglisse, given by a
some respected local rallyists. What a blast! 2 weeks ago, I went lapping
and really enjoyed myself, but this time I actually learned a lot, too. I'm
starting to get the weight-transfer, turn-in, rotate sequence down a lot
better. Boy, are these 4kqs great! So well balanced, and with Hakka 2's,
grippy too. Traction, the great equalizer. The 4kq had the least power, but
the most grip, and ended up being 1st or 2nd fastest, I think.

Now I can really begin to appreciate lapping days more effectively. And I
will at every opportunity!

As an interesting side-note, my "trusty-rusty-Audi" was the car all the
instructors wanted to drive. Their other choices included a V70XC, 2 A4 1.8T
quattros, a Forester, a CR-V, and a bunch of front-wheel-drive stuff.

My q didn't skip a beat except when an over-enthusiastic instructor kissed a
snowbank a little too hard and pushed my front right tire off its bead. 20
minutes later it was back on with no harm done.

Can't wait for the next event!

Cheers,
