Doug Asked:Does anyone know where I can pick up a set of cross-bars for a 9=
5=2E5 S6
Avant? I want to be able to carry skis and canoes up top.
I picked up a yakima set of cross bars and clamps for the rails on my 98 Av=
ant. I think the feet/clamps were called Lowrider. They work great I can ev=
en have my sunroof open in the vent position and they are low to the roof t=
oo. Get the cross bars one size wider than what they say in their catalog. =
This way if you need to haul bigger loads like a sheet of plywood or two c=
anoes you can and while they stick past the sid fo the roof they don't stic=
k out past the side of the car. It doesn't really matter whether you get Ya=
kima or Thule bars because most of the rack and boxes now will work on both=
of the racks.
As to where to get them here in the great frozen metropolis? There's REI in=
Roseville
just west of Rosedale on co. Rd B or The Big REI store on 494 in Bloomingto=
n or Midwest Mountaineering I believe on Cedar Ave. near Riverside Ave. jus=
t east of the Metrodome (eats side of 35W). I'm sure other places around he=
re carry them too. I got mine at REI and they had everything I needed at on=
e place.
