I need to make some clear headlight covers - custom-fit ones are rumored
to not last all that long, and are fairly expensive if that's so,
and in my application, a flat surface with one bend would do.
Is acrylic (as sold under the name "Lucite" at Home Depot) the same as
plexiglas, also referred to in some car books as perspex, and appropriate
for this sort of thing?
I'm assuming that the light passes through virtually unhindered, and that
in the worst winter (sand/gravel) weather, I'd get a few months out of a
set before it's too sandblasted and needs replacing (at just a few $ per
piece).
Am I too optimistic?
Is there a certain min. distance from the light or max. temperature I
should keep the stuff too to avoid melting?

TIA,
