So I finally got the speakers installed, just in time for my 1000 mile
road trip. If you just want the link, here it is:

fyi, it's a Jensen CDH-1000 deck (better than my Blaupunkt and my Sony,
both much more $$$) running through a Crunch amp (so named because of
the sound it makes when it starts up and the sound it will make in my
trash can, but it suffices until I can get an Orion or two) to two 3.5"
MB Quart fronts and two 6.5" MB Quart rears (they have a mini crossover
(prolly useless) (see photo of amp) and are some of the best speakers
I've ever heard) and two Polk GNX104 10" subs in a Q-Logic sealed box.
The subs are running at 4 ohms and the main speaks are at 2. I designed
this system to sound clean at normal volume, and it's great for that
(with the exception of the alternator whine and hissing from the
crunchy)... but I also wanted to be able to BLAST hardcore techno and
rap when I showed up at my friend's ultraconservative school (Pt. Loma
Nazarene University in San Diego) last weekend. It definitely worked
for this. As you can see, the fronts aren't done yet. I'm gonna fab a
piece of plastic to lift the grilles about 1/2" to clear the slightly
taller Quarts. Parts were purchased from a combination of
SoundDomain.com, Half.com, eBay, Crutchfield, House of Sounds, and
Stereo Plus. Strangely, she actually handles better with all that
weight in the back! Noticably slower off the line, but that's probably
better for me.
Of course, the aforementioned amp proceeded to overload my electrical
system and kill my car seven miles out of San Luis Obispo, but other
than that it has been a great system. Oh, and as soon as I get over my
latest speeding ticket, I will be giving some money to the list, I
promise. Unless I have to sell my car to pay for it (not entirely out
of the question)... And I have to go to King City to fight it. And I
have to testify against the other car involved. Oy.
