Fitting Bilsteins

One other thing ....
Conventional wisdom I hear is to pour some oil or antifreeze into the strut
housing before dropping the strut in.  I'm not sure what the benefit is
supposed to be, but I think a lot of people do it.  I understand this would
ruin the Bilsteins.  Does anyone know for sure?
