Greetings Audinauts,
Kent,
that was a good story. I second Doyt's thoughts on it.
It encourages me to keep on with the refurbishing of my '86 5ktq. (Hangar Q=
ueen) big upgrades coming, watch this space (grin).
Having sampled all matter of CGT's and lately being taken for a hair-raisin=
g ride in a 4ktq 20V, I appreciate the nimble, light feel of the type 85 ca=
rs. However, they do lack the "night train" feel of a good 44tq cutting thr=
ough the darkness out on the highway. (Proper lighting, of course, added!)
I've driven a *lot* of vehicles, and really, I'm biased, but I can't think =
of *anything* which feels so tank-like solid and unaffected by weather cond=
itions. It's basically the only thing that keeps me going on this Quixotic =
project. My '87 5kt (RIP) got me started on this tangent, and the occasiona=
l run in Ken Keith's '88 TQ kept the urge to joust with Ingolstadt's bigges=
t '80s machine going. At 16 psi, with no other mods, that's a mighty shove =
in the back...
I'm heading for San Diego next week in my 240Z- this should be an adventure=
, and another motivator to remind me that a much better suited Interstate c=
ruiser is only a few "issues" away.
BTW, the best version of Night Train, IMO, is that done by Kongo Shock (fro=
m Phoenix) in ska-jazz style, circa 1996. Check it out...
Regards,
Rob
