Quirky thermostats

Hi All,

Same with me and my 4kq. Nice heat on gauge (90C-100C indicated, or halfway
to one notch higher) at idle, but lately on highway, even with cardboard
blocking off at least half the rad, I can't go other halfway.

But the heater actually blows hot on 1 fan speed. On 2, 3, 4 it cools off
significantly. So the only way to get a warm car is to keep the fan on 1.

Weird.

Just my $.02, i am having the same problem, even after cardboarding the
grill, radiator and protecting the radiator area as much as i can.  Still
won't run warm.  EXCEPT in stop and go conditions or idleing situations.
The thermostat is brand new.

To sum up, DITTO to everything everyone has said about this issue.  If i
lived in Fla. i wouldn't mind not having warm air in the car.
