I previously posted that my newly acquired 5k turbo will start but not
run. Well that is still true, but since that post I tested my fuel pump
relay. All the tests were ok, except for the one involving test light
between 50 and 51. This is supposed to flash when the engine cranks,
correct? Well, mine doesn't. I checked my schematics that I have, but
it is not clear the origin of the two points. I assume that they come
from the distributor, and the ignition?
Regardless of they origin, could this be one of the problems with the
starting but not running? If the fuel pump doesn't run during cranking,
then the residual pressure will be too low?
I also checked the cold start injector. With the engine temp being in
the neighbourhood of -30, the test light only was lit for about 2
seconds. According to the graph that I have, it should have been more
like 8 to 10 seconds. The only thing controlling this is the thermal
time switch, correct?
Thanks for any advise/help. I am still learning about the beast.
Later
Brian
