Listers,
After some heavy snow in MD over the weekend, I finally got a chance to
"play" for the first time all year. I was only beaten by one road. When I
attempted to lock my center diff..nothing, rear diff.... nothing. So I back
out with my pride handed to me and go home in search of the leak. After
changing all the little hoses, I finally was able to lock both diffs from
the switch. So I go back to teach that road a lesson..After making it
through with little incident, I'm on my way home and unlocked the rear
diff(the center has a broken nipple so I have to unlock from under car) and
get ready to make the u- turn into my drive. Now I'm fully prepared for the
lurching and dragging caused by such a maneuver with a diff locked, but the
sound I heard was anything but normal. It was a horrible metallic
cracking/pop sound that was either from the rear or center area, couldn't
quite tell. I should say that this was sort of a pre existing condition that
only presents itself when taking off from a stop and turning at the same
time. The sound was amplified by having the center diff locked. Just
wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the matter. I have an idea but would
still like opinions.
Thanks for any help
Marques
