I am having a hard time sourcing the correct tranny
fluids for my 87 4kcsq.
Bently states the following:
Front and Center Diff:
3.4Q (3.2L) SAE 80W/ 80W/90 Hyploid MIL L-2105,
API/GL4
Rear Diff:
2.3Q (2.2L) SAE 90 Hyploid MIL L-2105B, API/GL5
I believe Lappen's and Autozone each carry only ONE of
these, maybe the SAE 90 GL5 stuff for the rear but it
looks like it is usually slim picking and there is
nothing for the front/ center diff/trans..
I hate to be Dependant on generic parts stores who
usually only have stuff for chevy, buick and ford.
I am in the Boston/Cambridge Area of MA but frequent
the Concord NH area often.
Where can the correct fluids be found in this area?
Is "Hyploid" just a name brand?
In a previous listing some listers had mentioned NOT
to use synthetics (i.e 70w90 or 80w140). Does that
advice hold true?
If the SAE 80w90 can't be sourced for the trans and
center diff, can the 90w for the rear be used instead?
If anyone can name some brand names or specific
locations to source this stuff it is much appreciated.
TIA
