Hey guys (and Girls),

Last week I posted to the list my problem with my '91 V8 stalling when
shifting into reverse, and sometimes in drive. Well I took another look
at the crank case breather hoses and replaced them (well the two on top
of the engine). The one that goes under the air box had a hole in it
about the size of a dime.

The idle was a little smoother, but still stalled when subject to
reverse. It is like as soon as I shift into reverse the RPM's flatline
and either recover or it just dies. Today, we cleaned the ISV. It was
pretty gunky and the cleaning smoothed out the idle even more.
Thankfully it doesn't stall anymore =).

BUT..it still has a sketchy idle problem. Again, when shifting into
reverse, the idle drops (below 100) and then recovers. Darn near every
time!! So we took a look at the fuel regulator vacuum hose. Sprayed
some Carb Cleaner on it to see if the idle speed changed. It did. So
we are gonna replace that vacuum hose.

Does all this sound pretty logical? I mean does it sound pretty much
like we have the problem nailed down? Are there any other anomalies
that we are missing that could be causing the problem?

TIA

P.S. I just went through my first tank of gas in my baby *tear*. I'd
call it my fun tank. 14.7 MPG not to bad I'd say..expecially for
completely in traffic driving. Hopefully next week it'll be closer to
20.
