Go to the Audiworld A6 forum and search on this subject. Especially look
for a Sean Ford post on this no more than 3-4 months old. I'll try to
summarize.
Check for fading of the center dash LCD. Check the bottom of the front
bumper. They flex enough to go over curbs and catch, and then can rip off
when backing out. Check for groaning noises on steering. There was a
weakness in the tie rods. See if the tie rods have been replaced. (That's
a good thing. They improved the design.) Have the dealer (any dealer can
do this) run the recall history and maintenance history on the car. Make
sure you get all the goodies with the car - reflective traingle on the trunk
lid, tool kit in the driver's side trunk compartment, 4 floor mats, owner's
manual in a compartment directly under the steering column, first aid kit in
the rear passenger seat divider, trunk cargo mat. Then do the usual used
car checks, esp. electrical - heated seats, sunroof, 4 windows, rear view
mirrors, lights. Finally, you can add the factory CD disk changer and
player yourself in about 15 minutes for a cost of around $150 if you choose.
All cars are prewired for it.
