tranny problems

After a 7 year absence I have just returned to the Audi fold.  I bought a
 1995 Audi 90 Quattro, with 130,000 miles on it.  I'm having a problem with shifting
up to 2nd gear.  If I'm taking it easy there's no problem, but if I acceleerate briskly in
1st, it will grind going into 2nd.  Would this be "syncro" trouble.  And is there any
practical solution?  Also, is there any place to get a repair manual without needing
to get a bank loan to manage the purchase?  TIA
