As some of you may remeber a few months ago a posted a thread for my friend=
s 88 80q on the list with the same title. I got many many replies! (Thanks!=
) and now i am back for round two.

What finally turned out to be the major cause of the cutting out, was a bad=
new fuel pump, the new one (a bosch made in CZ) was not putting out enough=
pressure under load, and the fuel injectors were closing, we finally track=
ed this down with some borrowed CIS pressure gauges, we put on a used 4000 =
pump and its working pretty well, no more cutting out under load.

But, it will still cut out while cruising or idleing, and if it stalls unde=
r these circumstances, it will not restart for minutes, and sometimes hours=
. we have tracked it to a no spark problem. the engine is getting fuel, but=
if we pull a spark plug we get no spark.

My questions are, A: Does this sound like a symptom of a failing hall sende=
r? (i have read that these become very temp sensitive in failure mode) B: h=
ow does one test a hall sender? and C: does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks a bunch in advance!

Stacy

PS. if i left any clues out, just let me know and i would be happy to provi=
de more detail.
