One correction- it's Redline MT-90. MTL is the lighter gear oil,
too light for Audis.

Sounds possibly like the 2nd gear synchro is going. Before going to
drastic measures, try changing the tranny oil with Redline MTL 90. My
200's sychros were acting (or not!) up, changed from M1 (I know, bad,
bad!) to Redline MTL (you'd want the heavier of the two weights
offered) and in about 2 weeks things got back to normal. If Redline
isn't availible, make certain to get an oil with a GL4 (NOT GL5! no
synchro friction modifiers) rating.

HTH!
