Yes, 4 cylinder 4000s are very rare in Canada.
The very early 1982s was probably the most common.
I have yet to see the '85-'87 4ks FWD with a 4banger in Candadian trim.
The strangest car I saw though had to be a 1988 Audi 90 FWD with a 4cylinder. It was factory and the car was fully loaded with all the 90 options etc.... yet it had a 4 cylinder... Doh!
Canadian market was very strange with 5kt 5 speeds etc. etc.

Almost all Canadian 4ks non-q's are 5 cylinders, and I would bet they're
type81's. They're probably pretty quick too, weighing 400lbs less! I see
them for sale now and then, usually under $1500CDN.
