I-5 gas mileage

Here's the scoop on my I-5's (all MPG's are in US measure)
My first '85 4kq got 25.2 city 29.7 highway average over 5 years = 26.8
Present '88 80q gets 24.7 city 29.6 highway average over  3 years = 26.1
  (Running 92 will increase power on the 80q (what power?) but MPG stays the
same.)
  A full ski rack will knock 1.5 MPG off the highway specs.
My 'new' '85 4kq gets 25.0 city but only 26.9 highway. That's  3MPG less
(highway) than my other cars under the exact same driving conditions. This
one I can't figure out because the city MPG is the same.
