Audi alive and WELL in Norway(Norge)

Hi Gang,

I have been traveling to Norway to visit friends since
'71(pre-Norwegian oil discoveries) and this last trip revealed more
Audis on the streets of Oslo than I have ever seen before and more
"S's" than I have ever seen anywhere in my travels. Whether we drove
into town or took the boat from my friend's place in SnarØya we never
failed to see less than 4 S6 Avants in a day and we were there for
week. I can see why the A3/S3 aren't sold here...they look too much
like a VW Golf and the A2 is just wierd looking...like a mini Pontiac
Aztec:-( But S4 and S6's are quite common sights. It would be safe to
say that the economy in Norway is doing well...much better than in '71
when most people didn't have cars or only used them on the weekends to
take trips.

On the other hand...we spent a week in Iceland after we left Norway; we
drove all over the western half of the island and saw very few Audis
and they were mostly of older vintage. The Icelanders are very big on
4WD and build some real monsters; it strikes me as a place were the
Audi ALLROAD would be right at home...lots of volcanic dirt roads, but
we never saw one.

Sorry for the bandwidth usage...just an observation from my travels.

Happy motoring,

Shef
