Hey all,

            I was test-driving an 87 5000TQW this weekend and had a
question...

The owner told me it was in need of a new prop shaft center
bearing because it "clunked". While driving, all seemed well until 3000 RPM
where it felt like the prop shaft was banging against the tunnel and the
Check Engine light came on in time with each knock. Didn't have an
opportunity to check out the underside, but why would a bad bearing cause
the Engine light to go on? Only having experience with 4000's I'd appreciate
any info you could send my way.

            Thanks!
