I'm confused -- '95 90Q question

I'm quattro shopping, and have come across a car that looks very appealing and tempting. It's a 1995 Audi 90 quattro. I got pictures today, and it looks like the car has a manual climate control system. I was under the impression that all of them had the automatic climate control; was I mistaken?

Also, it the manual climate control more desirable? I'm thinking reliability reasons, not convenience reasons. Final question -- Is it possible to retrofit auto climate control or is it too much work to be worth it?
