CV-joint bolts

How much is the length of the thread?
I was told that the only difference is the tread length.
On the center- drive- shaft bolts I measured 32 mm of thread.
Center drive shaft bolts are $9 cad at the dealers;
Bolts for the wheels CV-joints are $0.49 aftermarket.

Part number is not the same, but the dimensions are the same, M8x48. The
bolts for the inner CVs are a specific part number, the bolts for the
center drive shaft have VW's generic part number. The difference could
be the steel in the bolts themselves.
