This brings back memories of an icy Minnesota Night in the early 80's in my=
Dad's Marina Blue 1974 VW Dasher. I slid into a curb at 30 mph with the wh=
eels at full left lock. Like the good Teenage driver I was I immediately ch=
ecked and upon seeing no cops in the area backed up and started back on my =
way for about 1/2 block of grinding. My little off road excursion had pushe=
d the right front tire back into the fender by about 4 inches. I managed to=
pull the fender from the tire and Dad drove it home. The next day a closer=
inspection showed the control arm had been torn from the strut. My Dad got=
a new one from VW and installed it. It ran for another 2 years before it r=
usted completely away. So look close before you write off the car.
