Trouble in 4KCSQ Land

Greg,

I don't want it to sound like I am telling you to be a jerk or anything, but
if you gave him money to do the smog check and he didn't do it, then it is
really his fault. If you sold it to him 4 months ago, it should be
registered and insured under his name, which would make him responsible
right?

I had an experience selling my old bmw about 6 years ago where the person
came back to me wanted me to pay for some repairs. I told them tough luck,
it was their car and that it was their problem.

If the car passed last year, how do you know the kid didn't do something to
mess it up and throw off the results. Some minor adjustments to the mixture
can make you not pass. I don't really see how you screwed up I guess.

I understand it is a moral dilemma and if you feel bad about it and want the
kid to have an excellent running car you two should go half and half on the
repairs. It's going to run better than before with the newer cat/exhaust or
whatever needs to be replaced so why should he get that benefit for free?

Just my opinions,
Mike Robinson
