4kq ignition switch replacement

I didn't see anything in the Bentley about replacing the ignition switch,
but I did find a good bit in the Hayes.  They say you must remove the
steering wheel and associated hardware to do it.  I'm done for today since I
don't have the right size socket to remove the steering wheel.  I can see
the back of the ignition switch, but the screw(s) that hold it in place look
like they're buried in the steering column somewhere.  Any BTDT's?
