'88 90 tq Outer CV Joint Removal Front

Hello All,

I can't get off the front outer CV joints on my '88 90tq. It has the
two-piece strut housing which, I think, uses a larger CV joint than the
one-piece version (I don't know if that affects my situation). I've tried
screwing the large center bolt in all the way to push the CV joint off of
the shaft. I've tried inserting a small rod through the bolthole and
against the shaft and then using a puller. I've tried holding the shaft and
knocking off the joint with a plastic-faced hammer. The axle is on the car,
I should note, and I'd rather not take it off.

I'm hopefully near the end of my CV boots, strut inserts, upper strut
bearings, control arm bushings, subframe bushings, wheel bearings, pads &
rotors, caliper rebuilds, brake hoses, downpipe re-weld, sway bar end
bushings, tie-rod, front-suspension-rebuild-marathon. It was ~6 degrees F
this morning in my garage, I want to be done!!! Please advise on getting
the CV joint off!!! TIA!!!

Chris
